Other Information : This is the graveyard surrounding Bright parish church, about 1 mile west of the Downpatrick-Killough road The oldest stone dates from 1707 and the church, which was restored in 1745, bears the following inscription on the outside of the north wall 'Poni curavit et in sacra restituit Dunensis Decanus A AE C MDCCXLV The burial and baptismal registers date from 1880 and marriage from 1845, but the vestry book goes back to 1770 The Roman Catholic registers of Bright, Rossglass and Killough datefrom 1856 (baptism) and 1843 (marriage) The old chapel (now gone)covering this parish was built at Coniamstown before 1745, as was Rossglass (q v ) Killough was consecrated in 1828 and Legamaddy in 1865 Bright church contains two memorial tablets, prior to 1900 and these are copied in Memorials of the Dead, IV, 221 Both are included below The graveyard is uneven and contains a number of rough field stones as well as some granite stones, the inscriptions on which are very hard to decipher Most of the older stones are of Roman Catholics but the number using it has diminished during this century The graveyard was levelled and cleared during 1967 and the inscribed stones uncovered are ranged along the walls In the north-east is corner is an empty space where a school stood during the early nineteenth century.
