Other Information : The modern congregation was formed early in the nineteenth century and worshipped in a chapel beside the Quay from 1821 The present church was built on the Albert Road (1878-1879) in the town and parish of Carrickfergus It is a romanesque composition of heavy circles and verticals executed in red brick externally, pine and plaster internally Baptisms are recorded from 1819 and marriages from 1824 Memorial tablets and windows have been copied The earliest is dated 1888 (Graham) BEMBRIDGE [Window in south wall, based on Holman Hunt's painting 'The Light of the World', includes depictions of Ashbourne School, Derby; Northern College, Manchester; and Carrickfergus; and carries the legend 'Behold I stand at the door and knock I am the Light of the world '] In grateful and abiding memory of Rev George Bembridge B A , B D , devoted minister of this church 1936-1979 This memorial is the gift of the members and friends of the church and congregation He lived and taught the gospel .
