Other Information : This is situated on one of the peaks of the Castlereagh Hills, half a mile west of the Belfast-Ballygowan road It is in the townland of Castlereagh and parish of Knockbreda The first church on the site was built about 1720 although there is a stone inside the church with the inscription:-"Enter ye House of ye Lord thy God with humility Built Anno Dom 1754 Ye Revd Sam Alexander, Minister" The present church was built in 1834 Stones date back to 1778 and all with dates before 1865 have been copied of these 23 were included in Memorials of the Dead (MD) Vol X, but this does not include all the older stones and a few are now lost Some corrections have been made to those copied previously The graveyard is in good condition and all the stones are easily read The baptismal register dates from 1809 and the marriage register from 1816 The burial register is modern. These are inscriptions additional to the main coverage of the graveyard in Vol 1, of the period 1865-1899 There is also one earlier inscription which was unaccountably missed The graveyard is as it was when seen c1966 but the church has been renovated very impressively There is a history of Castlereagh Presbyterian Church, 1650-1950 by the Rev James Little It was published in 1935 and reprinted in 1950.
