Other Information : KILLOUGH GRAVEYARD This is round the church of Ireland in the village of Killough in the civil parish of Rathmullan, the church is not an ancient foundation but grew up with the fishing poet in the seventeenth century, it was rebuilt in 1716 and again in 1802 in its present form, the Reverend Robert Stewart whose tomb is here is the first incumbent known, the registers dating from the early nineteenth century were destroyed in Dublin, The oldest stone in the graveyard dates from 1731 and all with dates of death before 1865 have been recorded here, the graveyard appears to have been used exclusively by protestants the Roman Catholics burying in the pre-reformation graveyards of Rathmullan and Ballykindlar, it is in very good condition having been levelled in recent years but there are several stones lying round the edge, some of the horizontal stones are badly worn and very difficult to read, two were inaccurately copied in memorials of the dead, VIII, 41-2.
