Other Information : St John's, Upper Kilwarlin is a parish carved out of Hillsborough, Dromore and Moira It is in the townland of Corcreeny about 3 miles southwest of Hillsborough The tablet over the door reads "Erected from the Free Contributions of the Marquis of Downshire and the inhabitants of Kilwarlin, aided by the Down and Connor Church Accommodation Society, by the Venerable Walter B Mant, Archdeacon of Down, 1840" Like the neighbouring church of St James, Lower Kilwarlin, which was completed in the following year it was built to accommodate the rural parishioners too far from the older churches The first Burial Register, up to 1877 was destroyed in the Public Record Office fire of 1922 The graveyard is level and in good order with stones dating from 1849 and all stones with dates of death prior to 1900 have been copied All the memorial tablets in the church have also been included.
