Other Information : The parish church and graveyard are In the townland of Clare at the east side of the town The church was built in 1723 and the oldest stone extant dates from 1742 The old registers are lost but the surviving baptismal and burial registers date from 1825, and there are some transcripts in the P R O N I dating back to 1784 The site is not ancient, the parish having been carved out of Magheralin, see Atkinson's Dromore, An U1ster Diocese, Dundalk, 1925 The old part of the graveyard (to the east) is in wild condition but many of the older stones appear to have been of sandstone and the inscriptions are lost by weathering The large Waring enclosure is to the south-west of the church and the Bateson enclosure with its huge obelisk is to the north All stones in the graveyard recording deaths prior to 1900 have been included and the three memorial tablets in the church prior to 1900.
