Other Information : This is a private chapel on the De Ros estate of Old Court and townland of Strangford Lower to the north of Strangford town There is no public road to it but only a footpath running from the front gate of the estate It was built in 1629 for George, 16th Earl of Kildare, repaired in 1740 and has had numerous repairs and improvements since The church proceeded all others in the area and was used by all denominations in Strangford until others were built There are no registers but it is in the parish of Ballyculter which has Baptismal registers from 1777 and Marriage and Burial registers from 1812 The graveyard, which lies to the south side of the church, is rarely used now and in 1940 almost all the stones were arranged round the sides In copying therefore, these gravestones have been numbered consecutively, clockwise from the east end of the church There are 6 stones still left in the body of the graveyard and one standing alone on the north of the church (De Ros) All the gravestones have been copied including three built into the west end of the church Modern memorial tablets in the church have not been copied The oldest stone dates from 1714 and almost all are in good condition.
